Paul Jaboulet-Aîné : Le Grand Pompée 2023

Cask sample. Open and a touch herbal. Red fruit as well. Lighter fruit on the mid palate. Slightly dusty, chalky finish. Pretty much ready to go. (JL)

Ripe red fruits blend their rich aromas with the fresher notes of small black berries (blackcurrant, cherry) in a warm, finely spiced bouquet. Focused on freshness, the palate evokes cool summer evenings, stone holding the day's warmth, the garrigue and its mouthwatering herbal notes. The tannins caress the palate before a tense finish with lovely mouthwatering bitters and a hint of licorice.

The 2023 Saint-Joseph Le Grand Pompée casts its early aromas toward a medium lift of black fruits, spicy tones and restrained smoky aromas. Touching the medium-bodied palate with acceptable flavour concentration wrapped around smooth tannins, the 2023 can be enjoyed right out of the gate.

Notes of dark berries, pepper and spices introduce the 2023 Saint-Joseph Le Grand Pompée, a medium- to full-bodied, juicy and enveloping wine with good depth at the core, concluding with a fresh, slightly chocolaty finish.
