Description
Discovering the soul of Pinot Meunier through a cuvée by Alfred Gratien
The estate
Founded in 1864 in Épernay, Alfred Gratien is a discreet Champagne house that upholds a unique artisanal savoir-faire, respectful of tradition and embodying excellence. For over a century, the Jaeger family, cellar masters from father to son, has preserved this heritage, ensuring an inimitable style. Faithful to oak-barrel aging and without malolactic fermentation, it crafts Champagnes that are fresh, elegant, and characterful.
The vineyard
Clos Le Village, located in the Premier Cru Champagne village of Cumières, is a historic plot planted with Pinot Meunier in 1961. This vineyard of under 2,000 m² on the right bank of the Marne—whose name refers to the historical cadastral designation—benefits from a southern exposure and a unique microclimate.
Grape variety
This Clos Le Village Cumières 2018 by Alfred Gratien is 100% Pinot Meunier.
