The 2014 Extra Brut Rosé Rare Collection blends 92% Chardonnay from Avize, Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant with 8% Pinot Noir from Vertus and Verzenay, vinified as a red wine for its pink color. After spending eight years on lees, it opens with lemon shortbread and an exquisite streak of lemony strawberry. The palate is sleek, taut and svelte, yet rich with the finest, creamiest mousse that spreads lemon shortbread richness and deep chalkiness. Fine freshness underlies and connects all, like twinkling lights amidst the chalkiness, with just an edge of plum skin.
