Decanter

Golden-fruited and open-stanced, with dried apple, apricot tart and dark spices; this is voluminous on the palate and slightly savoury in style. An intriguing, pithy citrus oil close from the Chardonnay keeps this dry and a little daring. 65% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir from Vrigny in the Petite Montagne.

Coulon's NV Extra Brut L'Hommee 1er Cru is gorgeous. Powerful and ample in the glass, with tremendous resonance, L'Hommee dazzles with its energy and persistence. Orchard fruit, wild flowers and spice overtones take on shades of exoticism with time in the glass. L'Hommee is a blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier (done in oak) and Chardonnay (done in steel) from Vrigny and Pargny. This latest release is just fabulous. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: December, 2018.

Roger Voss

From vines on the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, this Champagne is rich with structured Pinot Noir and tense, mineral Chardonnay. With natural freshness balanced by apple and ripe lime flavors, the bottling is ready to drink.
