Vinum

Open and delicately fragrant, ripe cherry fruit, elderberry, spicy notes, leather; accessible palate, ultra-fine tannins, sweet fruit, wonderful length. It will be enjoyable at every stage of its life.

Dark, ripe and succulent, with crushed plum, steeped blackberry and warmed black cherry reduction notes woven together by black tea and singed sandalwood threads. Savory flecks and a subtle minerality pervade gently on the finish as the fruit lingers. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2026 through 2038.

Decanter

Extremely ripe and concentrated aromatics — plum, cherry and baked blackcurrants. Sweet and sharp, this has a combination of ripe fruit with quite tart, tangy acidity. Chewy tannins with cool cola and liquorice accents on the finish. I like the overall texture and weight but this needs a bit more time for the flavours to meld more.

The blackberry and blueberry character comes through nicely here. Blackcurrants too. Full-bodied with creamy, round tannins and a smoky dark-mushroom and dark-fruit finish. Extremely well done. 67% merlot, 27% cabernet franc and 6% cabernet sauvignon. Drink after 2029.

The 2022 Clos Beauregard has a lovely bouquet with red fruit, red brick, light earthy tones and sufficient brightness. The oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and tensile, with fine tannins, a keen line of acidity and a dash of black pepper on the finish. This is a well-crafted Pomerol that is worth hunting down.

Flowers, espresso, and black cherries create a stunning display in the perfume. On the palate, the wine feels silky, elegant, fresh, and luxuriously textured. The finish, with layers of chocolate-infused plums and black cherries, along with subtle hints of spice and espresso, adds great depth as the wine lingers. Beauregard is clearly on a roll, and this is their best vintage yet! Drink from 2026-2045.

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Hints of prunes and dark nougat, subtle overripe aromas and candied orange zest. Sweet and opulent, ripe plums, some figs, vivid tannins, chocolaty and showing some rusticity.

The 2022 Château Beauregard is a blend of 67% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from gravelly clay and sandy soils. Aged for 15 months in 45% new barrels, it offers a round, lush style and reminds me slightly of the 2016. Ripe black fruits, chocolaty oak, damp earth, and tobacco define the aromatics. Full-bodied and beautifully layered, it has velvety tannins and a polished, seamless profile. It will evolve gracefully over the coming two decades.

Starts closed, still very much in primary phase, opening to show violet and peony notes, giving Pomerol typicity alongside a firm tannic structure. Its spiced backbone reflects the heat of the vintage, but this is good quality. Winemaker Guillaume Fredoux, overseen by director Vincent Priou. 45% new oak barrels; 36hl/ha yield, Moulin family owners, of Galeries Lafayette.

Le Figaro Vin

Of ultimate elegance, this wine presents on the nose like a true gentleman. Very fresh, it reveals a perfect balance, with flowers expressing themselves gracefully. On the palate, it’s an explosion of flavors in slow motion: slate, savory flowers, all carried by a superb, finely granular texture. The long finish is deliciously saline.

For the first time, part of the Cabernet Sauvignon plot was included in the grand vin, reaching 6% of the blend. The bouquet faithfully reflects the grape varieties’ characteristics, with notes of black fruit, eucalyptus and peony, complemented by a touch of licorice and cocoa beans. On the palate, the wine shows confidence and harmony. It has power as well as suppleness, and owes a great deal to suave, fleshy tannins, gently extracted to ensure vigor, balance and even freshness. Only the finish could show more energy and greater fruit impact. A highly convincing Beauregard, a reminder that it should not be overlooked and certainly one of the estate’s greatest successes.

Black color. Intense nose with ripe, subtle fruit. Creamy touch and delicate fragrance. Caressing palate, with vibrant fruit and finely tuned tannic support. A delicately fleshy whole that never shows the tannin. Charming. Blend: 67% merlot, 27% cabernet franc, 6% cabernet sauvignon. Alcohol: 14% - pH: 3.8. Yield: 36 hl/ha.

89-91 Barrel sample. Rich black fruits are showing well in this Merlot-dominated wine. It has a perfumed character that is developing well, along with the core of tannins.
