Decanter

Blackcurrant, raspberry leaf, liquorice and wet stones on the nose. Smooth and supple with nice clarity. A little tight at the moment but great clarity and purity with blueberries and wet stones. So much minerality. Succulent and mouthwatering, this is generosity and friendliness in a glass built on a really crushed stone mineral base. 3.65pH. A yield of 33hl/ha. 6% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

Flowers, licorice, cherries, smoke, mocha, currants, cedar, and tobacco fill the aromatic profile. The palate is medium-bodied, energetic, soft, polished, and refined. There is good concentration. Texturally, the wine feels elegant on your palate. There is freshness, giving the wine a vibrancy, making it effortless to drink. The sweetness in the fruits, paired with spice, mocha, espresso, and crushed stones, tastes and feels great. The finish starts off strong and keeps on going. 2025 is clearly in competition as one of the best vintages ever produced at Branaire Ducru. The purity here truly makes an impression. You can enjoy this with pleasure quite early in its life and count on at least 20 more years of enjoyment. The wine blends 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. The harvest took place September 4 - September 22, making this the earliest end to a harvest in the history of the estate. Yields 33 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2029-2060. 95-97 Pts

Intense, knitted down with grilled cumin and cloves, sappy dark fruits, appellation typicity, an enjoyable enjoyable Brainaire. Yield: 33 hl/ha. 60% new oak. François Xavier Maroteaux, owner.

The bouquet of Branaire 2025 shows remarkable finesse and freshness, with aromas of violets, cinnamon and blueberries, enhanced by a hint of graphite. The attack sets the tone for a velvety progression, guided by powerful tannins that bring both energy and precision, as well as freshness. A savory, harmonious and persistent wine. A great success.

Deep black color with purplish highlights. The nose is intense, refined and fruity, pure and subtle, with a backdrop of spices and red and black fruits. Ultra-delicate on entry, with an airy yet dense bearing, the wine stretches out and opens up on the mid-palate, while gently leaning on fine-grained tannins. It is regal, precise, deep and irresistibly drinkable. Blend: 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13% – pH: 3.65 – IPT: 65. Yield: 33 hl/ha.

Vinum

On the nose, still shaped by the aging: pronounced blackcurrant aromas, a touch of cola, mint, sour cherry; the palate is supple, slightly creamy, seductively approachable, with firm tannins, juicy acidity and good length. It will be enjoyable at every stage of its life.

Description

Tasting notes and recommendations for Château Branaire-Ducru 2025

Tasting

Nose
Displaying great aromatic complexity, the bouquet reveals intense aromas of black fruits, blackcurrant and Morello cherries. Delicate floral notes intertwine harmoniously with subtle hints of oak.

Palate
The attack is ample and round, introducing a texture that is at once smooth, fleshy and particularly dense. The balance is remarkable, supported by silky, fine and elegant tannins. The long and refined finish lingers with superb spicy and floral nuances.

Wine pairings
This cuvée pairs beautifully with grilled white meats with herbs, lean red meats, or vegetable-forward dishes. As for cheeses, aged hard cheeses such as an old Comté will perfectly enhance its structure.

The elegance and richness of a great Saint-Julien wine

The estate
Founded in 1680, Château Branaire-Ducru is a renowned Fourth Growth from the 1855 Classification, located in the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation. This historic 60-hectare estate experienced a true revival under the leadership of Patrick Maroteaux from 1988 onwards. Today, his son François-Xavier Maroteaux heads the estate and continues this expertise with passion. A true hallmark of the estate, its signature style emphasizes purity of fruit, freshness and absolute elegance, contributing to the international reputation of this exceptional Left Bank wine from Bordeaux.

The vineyard
The exceptional terroir of this Saint-Julien estate is based on deep Quaternary gravel soils over clay subsoils. This geological profile ensures perfect drainage while regulating water reserves. The vines, averaging thirty-five years of age, are farmed with an environmentally respectful approach, rewarded with Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification.

The vintage
The end of winter was marked by a rapid warming, encouraging early and even budburst. While the cool, wet spring limited the number of bunches per vine, the mild month of May allowed for quick flowering. The summer proved particularly hot and dry, leading to early water stress ideal for tannin synthesis in the skins. Beneficial rainfall at the end of August then accelerated ripening while preventing excessive sugar concentration. Harvest, spread from September 4 to 22, delivered low yields of around 33 hl/ha due to drought and small berry size.

Winemaking and ageing
This 2025 vintage benefits from state-of-the-art facilities, with a gravity-flow vat room ensuring total respect for the fruit. Alcohol: 13% vol.

Grape varieties
Château Branaire-Ducru 2025 is the result of a blend of cabernet sauvignon (62%), merlot (26%), petit verdot (6%) and cabernet franc (6%).
