Château de Camensac 2015

The most beautiful bottled Camensac in recent times, incredibly fruity, smooth, fresh, with charm and substance.

The 2015 Camensac is medium garnet-purple colored with warm red and black currants on the nose, along with a waft of potpourri and dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is firm and chewy, with red-berry flavors and an earthy finish.

I like this for its bright fruit, sense of forward motion and vivacity. There’s not huge depth, but the quality is good and it stays upbeat, with notes of cedar and red berries. Plenty of medium-term drinking pleasure here.

Plenty of spicy and toasty oak on offer here with underlying plum aromas and flavors. A very fresh palate with great depth and detail. Drink or hold.

Light, lean, crisp, and with more cranberry than cherry, this is on the overly fresh side.

Dark ruby, good depth, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the edge. Delicately chocolatey, fine touch of wood, fresh cherries, a touch of orange zest. Juicy, good complexity, blackberry confit, integrated tannins, leafy touch on the finish, has ageing potential.

Caramelized cherries, spice box, vanilla, and dried flowers all emerge from the 2015 Château de Camensac, and it's medium-bodied, ripe, polished, and nicely textured on the palate, with a charming, fruit-forward, delicious style. It’s a hidden gem to drink over the coming decade or more.

Deep purple, dense at the core, with garnet highlights on the rim. Restrained bouquet, not giving much. On the palate, a firm structure, slightly sandy extract, feels dry and rather mute. An introverted wine from which one unfortunately should not expect much later either.

Grilled cedar on the nose, ripe fruits, soft raspberry and black cherry flavours, clear mint leaf and liquorice; this is good quality, and one of the rare wines in this northern stretch of the Médoc where I can clearly see that 2015 is a greater success than 2014, reflecting the specific progress at Camensac. 60% new oak. Camensac at its peak: it shows refinement, a classic and elegant profile, with a well-defined palate and, above all, a strong saline expression on the finish.

Medium garnet red. Pleasant bouquet revealing spicy and fruity notes. The ageing is a little too pronounced. On the palate, the wine is juicy, pleasant, and perfectly balanced. Compact character, well-integrated tannins, and a refreshing structure.

Dark, intense color. Moderately aromatic nose, fruity and slightly lively. Fruity, pleasing palate, becoming a touch firm on the finish. Medium body and length. A rather austere 2015.

89–91. Barrel Sample. This wine is austere, more structured than fruity. It has dry tannins and stalky fruit flavors, with medium acidity.
