An Exceptional Brouilly from Combiliaty's Granite Terroir
The Estate
Founded in 1670 by Jean-François de La Chaize d'Aix, brother of King Louis XIV’s confessor, the Château de la Chaize covers 400 hectares, of which 150 are planted with vines in Beaujolais. Rebuilt by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and André Le Nôtre after 1665, this historical monument is one of the largest contiguous estates in the region. Owned by the Gruy family since 2017, it stands out for its exceptional Versailles-style architecture and its historic 1771 cellar.
The Vineyard
The Lieu-dit Combiliaty is one of the largest terroirs of the Brouilly appellation. Southeast-facing, this vineyard rests on shallow granite soils that give this Beaujolais wine its characteristic minerality and power. This exceptional parcel is managed under certified organic farming practices.
Winemaking and Aging
The Lieu-dit "Combiliaty" 2023 benefits from parcel-based vinification with full destemming. After an 11-day maceration in stainless steel tanks with pump-overs and rack-and-return, this Brouilly is aged for 15 months in foudres. Sulfiting takes place after malolactic fermentation and at bottling.
Grape Variety
100% Gamay.
