Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for Château de Myrat 2024
Tasting
The 2024 vintage offers a profile marked by a prominent botrytis and remarkable freshness. Lighter than previous years, it seduces with its charm and finesse, revealing delicate notes of candied citrus and apricot in the finish.
Food and wine pairings
This Sauternes pairs perfectly with spicy tapas, shrimp, foie gras, or even curry chicken. It also wonderfully accompanies a braised veal chop and pairs ideally with cheeses such as Roquefort or Comté. To finish on a sweet note, opt for a mango mousse or a fresh fruit salad.
The vivacity and elegance of a Sauternes wine
The property
Founded in the 18th century by the Demirat family, the Château de Myrat is a wine estate located in Barsac, in the Bordeaux region. Acquired in 1937 by Max de Pontac, descendant of Jean de Pontac (founder of Haut-Brion), the estate now extends over 22 hectares.
The vineyard
Located in Haut-Barsac, at the heart of the Sauternes appellation, the vineyard of Château de Myrat benefits from an exceptional terroir composed of clay-limestone on cracked limestone. This unique geological composition, combined with the particular microclimate of the region favoring the development of botrytis cinerea (noble rot), gives the wines this distinctive character and aromatic richness.
Vinification and aging
Vinification in barrels, followed by an aging of 18 months, 40% of which in new barrels.
Blend
Sémillon (92%), sauvignon (4%) and muscadelle (4%).
