A great Barsac wine combining freshness and elegance
The property
The Château Doisy-Daëne, located in Barsac in the Bordeaux region, is a 13.3-hectare vineyard. Since 1924, it has belonged to the Dubourdieu family, with Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu at its head today. The vineyard rests on limestone soils covered with clay, promoting noble acidity. The estate is renowned for its Sauternes sweet wines and its Cuvée Saint Martin, an innovative dry white wine. The oenological expertise of Denis Dubourdieu and the family heritage give the estate a reputation for excellence.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Doisy-Daëne extends over 13.3 hectares in the Barsac appellation, within the Sauternes region. The vines are planted on a characteristic terroir composed of a thin layer of clayey sands, locally called "red sands of Barsac", resting on a limestone subsoil. This particular geological structure allows optimal water retention, avoiding any excessive water stress to the vines while promoting natural acidity, a signature of great Barsac wines.
Vinification and aging
To produce Château Doisy-Daëne 2024, the grapes carefully selected by successive sorting were slowly pressed, then the must fermented in oak barrels, a quarter of which are renewed each year. The aging continued for 10 months in oak barrels with weekly topping up and regular racking, followed by an additional 9 months in stainless steel tanks. This minimalist vinification preserves the freshness and expression of the fruit, characteristics of the estate's identity.
Blend
Sémillon (75%) and Sauvignon Blanc (25%).
