Château Haut-Bergey 2024

Pleasantly deep aroma of ripe wild berries and cassis, topped with violet flowers, no perceptible oak; on the palate, straightforward with impressively crisp fruit, ripe tannins, the acidity drives drinkability; a finish of very good length. A very harmonious, elegant wine.

A mass of ripe tannins in the mouth, this is chalky - a touch drying - but with enough soft strawberry and cherry fruit to elongate the palate. Clean and clear, nice detail, light footed but well crafted. 3% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Certified biodynamic (Biodyvin). Cask sample. Light but finely edged. Fresh, but does lack a bit of stuffing. Slightly drying finish. (JL)

Tobacco, herbs, and red fruits create the perfume. Light, fresh, fruity, and airy, with lift and energy, red currants and cherries come through easily on the palate and in the finish in this lighter, vibrant wine. The blend is 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine is aged entirely in amphora and foudres, with no new French oak involved. Drink from 2028–2038. 88–90 pts

Bright red fruits and smokier aromas contribute to a bouquet that is both fleshy and fresh, polished, and rather seductive. Fresh and gentle, the acidity on the palate is pleasing, but the substance is less generous than on the nose.

Chalky tannins that give focus and lift to the fruits; this is understated, a little overly slim, but they have done a careful job of constructing through the palate, adding a touch of grilled oak.
