Glamour and seduction in spades at L'Evangile giving classic Pomerol typicity with a kick. Floral and expressive on the nose with pink and purple flowers, pink peppercorns, white and dark chocolate, raspberries and black cherries. Gorgeous texture on the palate, rich, deep, potent in the weight and tannic frame - chalky, ripe, mouthfilling, gently chewy giving bounce to the blackcurrant, plum, strawberry and cherry fruit while the minerality and salinity give a cool, fresh undercurrent. Clearly youthful and strict but such long length, really direct and focussed. Sleek yet muscular, everything feels precise and sculpted with a lingering clove and cinnamon edge giving the angles and tension right now. Clean and straight with precision, shape and style, tons of energy and juiciness. A great wine.

The 2020 L’Évangile is gorgeous. Rich, creamy and expansive in feel, the 2020 is a wine of succulence and textural richness. Black cherry, mocha, espresso, cloves, leather and licorice all meld together. Malolactic fermentation in barrel helps give L’Évangile its sumptuous, creamy personality. The 2020 spent 15 months in barrel, 50% new, with 10% of the wine aged in amphora. The 2020 is a gorgeous wine that is also a wine of transition, as so many things are being looked at with a fresh eye at the estate these days.

Chocolate mint, plums, espresso, black cherry, and dark cocoa on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, dense, rich, dark, deep, and powerful. On the palate, the wine is rich, deep, concentrated, tannic, and reserved. It is holdings its cards close to the vest. So, if you have a bottle, it is best to wait a few years before pulling a cork. The wine blends 88% Merlot with 12% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% ABV. Yields were low at 32 hectoliters per hectare. The Grand Vin was made from 50% of the harvest. Drink from 2027-2055.

Deep ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, faint ochre brightening on rim. Ripe dark berry fruit, delicate plum, noble wood and nougat, a hint of cardamom and orange zest. Juicy, complex, fine sweetness, ripe wild berry fruit, vivid tannins, mineral and long, ripe sweet cherry, but also some tannic bite on the finish, savoury aftertaste.

The 2020 L'Evangile is composed of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it is a little closed to start, soon emerging with flamboyant scents of kirsch, crushed blueberries, and fresh plums, giving way to hints of garrigue, star anise, iron ore, roses, and crushed rocks. The full-bodied palate is lively and vibrant with shiny black berry layers accented by bright mineral and spicy sparks and a velvety texture, finishing long and fragrant. A beautifully poised and fantastically expressive L'Evangile - bravo to Juliette on her first vintage!

A rather discreet nose compared with the Lafite of yesteryear, with charming notes of ripe fruit and a wave of warmth brought by aromas of spice, liquorice and wood smoke. Black fruit wrapped in a cloak of velvety tannins. A hedonistic decadence, after years in which Lafite wines from the Left Bank were rather tightly corseted. Not to mention a fine tension, carried through to a fresh, saline finish with a delicate chalky touch.

Évangile reveals itself gently and with great relevance, showing remarkable precision. Black berries dominate the nose, enhanced by floral and spicy nuances. Elegant and indulgent, the wine offers velvety tannins that deliver a composed power, ideally supported by a vibrant structure. A wine that stands out for its elegance, power and length.

The nose is spicy and elegant, with a lovely finesse and a refined, racy texture. There is a sense of precision and a delicate airy quality within its richness and density. Notes of violet and Sichuan pepper emerge, with lighter nuances of quite ripe wild small black fruits, alongside touches of graphite, fresh tobacco, floral saffron, oriental spices, and discreet toasted hints. The palate is fruity, juicy and mineral. A tangy acidic frame supports the wine’s gourmand appeal, with a subtle cedar note in the background. Flavours of quite ripe wild small black berries, juicy black plums and, more lightly, raspberries mingle with touches of fresh juicy small fruits, as well as hints of graphite, tonka bean and tobacco. Fine notes of fresh clove and nutmeg appear. A subtle hint of cornflower also shows in the background. The finish is long, with supple tannins that are finely angular, bringing freshness and minerality. Gradually, a subtle almost sappy note appears in the background, with star anise, blueberry and, always, that lifted chalky freshness.
