Wine Spectator

A pleasant red, with plum, mineral and green tobacco character. Medium to light body. Fresh finish. Drink now through 2004. 8,330 cases made.

Bright brick red. Lovely spicy note, tobacco and red bell pepper, raisined tones, showing a certain terroir sweetness. Malty palate with pleasant tannins. A fine food wine and more approachable than the 1998.

00: Medium ruby-purple with a lightening rim. Gorgeous cassis bouquet, with ripe plum tones beneath, earthy sweetness, smoke and licorice. Medium-bodied, gently grainy tannins; bread crust, dark bread and pumpernickel in the extract. The finish shows a slightly greenish hint of cornichons due to not fully ripe fruit; medium weight. (16/20). 12: Lightening brick red. Lovely spicy note, tobacco and red pepper, raisiny tones, showing a certain terroir sweetness. Malty palate with pleasant tannins. A fine food wine and actually almost as good as—if not even more appealing than—the 1998.

André Kunz

Fragrant, spicy, sweet bouquet: cherries, strawberries, herb butter, tobacco. Silky, elegant, fresh palate with a light structure, good aromatic expression, and a long, subtly bitter finish. 17/20 drink – 2022

Bettane+Desseauve

Truffle on the nose, with supple, mellow tannins and a charming, velvety texture.

Deep red colour. Medium intensity. Black highlights. Medium-intensity nose. Subtle. Fruit, damp earth. Liquorice. A slightly muted attack, developing into a rounded structure that evolves into a fruity palate with greener notes as well. Simple tannins on the finish. The wine lacks breadth and softness.
