Vertdevin
The nose is spicy, concentrated, and offers an airy quality in its spicy expression as well as a certain subtle, racy/airy power. It reveals notes of wild blackcurrant, nutmeg and, more slightly, blackberry, combined with touches of strawberry and small wild berries, as well as hints of clove, wild pepper, maceron berries, and a delicate hint of graphite/underbrush. The palate is beautifully juicy, fleshy, and gourmand, with a touch of creaminess and an airy, taut profile. There are notes of pulpy cherries, pulpy blackcurrant and, more slightly, purple plum, combined with touches of crushed small red berries, along with hints of blueberry, star anise, licorice, and fine nuances of tonka bean and blond tobacco. The tannins are sapid and plush, with juiciness and minerality. There is a subtle toasted note in the background, and you feel the wine would benefit from decanting. The fruit shows purity, a fine creaminess, and a fleshy, pulpy character. Good length.
