A lively and complex white wine from New Zealand
The producer
Nestled in the foothills of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, Clos Henri is a leading New Zealand wine estate run by a Sancerre benchmark: the Bourgeois family, who have been growing vines for 10 generations. Driven by the desire to reveal the finest Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc terroirs, Rémi and Jean-Marie Bourgeois set out to explore the world in search of that rare gem. After a long search, the family chose to settle in New Zealand and founded Clos Henri in 2000. Today, the estate spans 110 hectares of vineyards, including 42 hectares certified organic.
The vineyard
Thanks to its glacial soils, the estate boasts one of the most diverse terroirs in the Marlborough Valley. Shaped by three distinct geological periods, the soil is made up of layers of aeolian clays and rounded pebbles.
Vinification and ageing
The Clos Henri Sauvignon Blanc 2022 is gently pressed before being transferred to stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The wine is then aged on fine lees for three months.
