Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

Modest red currant and bitter cherry notes mingle with a prominent and savory herb streak, all backed by sanguine and cedar threads. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2027. 17,500 cases made, 700 cases imported.

Decanter

Perfumed raspberries on the nose, so appealing. Bright and lively on the palate, with an almost sherbet hit of strawberry and raspberry before the creamy, chalky texture comes in. Still lots of energy here if not the most weighty. Tannins are so silky, really well integrated, and this has easy-drinking appeal. Well balanced and directed, with no dip in the middle.

Tasted blind. Pale. Light and a little tart. A tad scrawny. (JR)

Medium-bodied, forward, soft, vibrant and fresh, this charmer will be just great to enjoy on release and over the near term for its sweet red fruits. Drink from 2023-2031. 85-87

Captures some of the spirit of Saint-Julien, with an approachable take on finesse and balance, raspberry fruits layered with cloves and white pepper spice adding a touch of complexity. This is a fresh style, and for early drinking.

The 2021 Connetable Talbot is deep garnet-purple in color. It has a nose of sautéed herbs and wet earth, opening to a core of redcurrants and rhubarb, with a touch of pencil lead. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is a little lean, with lightly chewy tannins and appealing freshness, finishing on an herbal note.

Le Figaro Vin

A touch of reduction that vanishes with a swirl, leaving a clear, clean nose. Flavorful on the palate, with lovely brightness, this second wine is very successful, with a hint of bell pepper on the finish.

Connétable clearly conveys its origins and terroir with graphite notes, while the fruit expression comes through in aromas of black berries. Its juicy, slender character brings sapid freshness, while its tannic structure lends a touch of vigor.
