Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Pommard 1er Cru "Clos Blanc" 2024 from Domaine Albert Grivault
Tasting
Colour
This wine displays a deep, dark red hue.
Nose
The complex nose reveals aromas of ripe red and black fruits, such as cherry and blackcurrant. It also opens onto spicy notes and earthy hints, along with subtle touches of oak and vanilla.
Palate
The palate is full, fleshy and richly fruity. Showing lovely density, it is built on powerful yet beautifully rounded tannins, offering a texture that is both robust and full of finesse. The long, persistent finish is seductive, marked by fruit and spice.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with rich meats such as game, roast red meats or civet-style stews. It is also an excellent match for roast poultry, white meats in sauce, and aged hard or cooked-pressed cheeses such as Comté.

The estate
Founded in 1879 by Albert Grivault, Domaine Albert Grivault is a historic family estate located in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy. Covering six hectares of vines, the estate is renowned for its high-quality terroirs and its pure, plot-by-plot approach. Today, it is run by Claire Bardet, manager since 2004, with Henri Marc in charge of winemaking and Michel Bardet overseeing ageing and sales. Although famous for its white wines, the estate stands out for producing a single red cuvée, in the Pommard appellation.
The vineyard
Pommard 1er Cru "Clos Blanc" comes from a historic 89-are plot established in the 12th century by the Abbey of Cîteaux. Located at the foot of the slope and benefiting from a north-south orientation, this Pommard terroir lies on soils of sandy clay, stony clay and limestone marl. The vines, the oldest of which were planted in 1937, have an average age of around forty years. The vineyard is farmed according to sustainable viticulture principles, with grapes harvested by hand.
Winemaking and ageing
To craft the Pommard 1er Cru "Clos Blanc" 2024, the hand-harvested grapes are fully destemmed to preserve the purity of the fruit. After a carefully controlled fermentation, the wine is aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels. The proportion of new oak is deliberately kept low to refine the tannic structure without masking the authentic expression of the terroir.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
