Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Domaine Combier 2024
Tasting
Nose
The nose unfolds in a spicy register, the signature of Syrah grown on the terroirs of Pont-de-l'Isère, Gervans and Serves-sur-Rhône, the cradle of this Crozes-Hermitage.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is velvety and enveloping, carried by fine tannins refined during ageing, for a texture that is both generous and balanced.
Food and Wine Pairings
This red Crozes-Hermitage is an ideal match for grilled or roasted red meats, such as rib steak or duck breast, as well as slow-cooked dishes like a daube or a veal sauté with mushrooms. It also pairs well with hard cooked-curd cheeses, such as Comté or Beaufort.
Serving and Cellaring
Domaine Combier 2024 is best served between 16 and 18°C, after decanting when enjoyed young, in order to fully reveal its aromas.
Domaine Combier 2024: a red Crozes-Hermitage true to the Syrah of the northern Rhône Valley
The Estate
Based in Pont-de-l'Isère, in the heart of the northern Rhône Valley, Domaine Combier was founded in 1990, when Laurent Combier, an oenologist by training, built his own winery and vinified his first vintages. Coming from a family committed to organic farming since the late 1960s, the estate now cultivates its vines in Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph under the direction of Laurent Combier and his sons Julien and David, perpetuating an approach that is attentive to the terroir and respectful of the environment.
The Vineyard
This red Crozes-Hermitage comes from plots located in Pont-de-l'Isère, Gervans and Serves-sur-Rhône, reflecting the diversity of the appellation's terroirs. To the south, the Chassis plateau offers clay-limestone soils covered with rounded pebbles, while to the north, the slopes of Gervans and Serves-sur-Rhône feature free-draining granitic soils. The entire vineyard benefits from a continental climate conducive to the ripening of Syrah.
Vinification and Ageing
For the production of Domaine Combier 2024, the wine is aged in barrels, which lend it structure and complexity while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
Grape Variety
100% Syrah.
