Description
A Givry 1er Cru from Domaine de la Ferté, Heir to a Cistercian Terroir
The Estate
Domaine de la Ferté was created in 1995, when Bertrand Devillard took over this vineyard in Givry, in Burgundy, on the Côte Chalonnaise. Its name refers to the Cistercian abbey founded in 1113, whose monks once cultivated these hillsides. Owned by the Beaumont family, Amaury Devillard's in-laws, the estate is now managed within Domaines Devillard, alongside Château de Chamirey and Domaine des Perdrix. This micro-estate of approximately 3 hectares, entirely devoted to Pinot Noir, cultivates in particular the historic climat of Servoisine.
The Vineyard
The wine comes from the Servoisine climat plot in Givry, on the Côte Chalonnaise. This historic hillside, worked by Cistercian monks as early as the 12th century, covers 0.67 hectare planted with vines more than 45 years old. Facing south-east, the plot sits on dense clay-limestone soil, rich in fine elements and typical of Givry's great terroirs. This combination of old vines and deep soil gives the Pinot Noir a concentrated structure and a fine sense of precision.
Vinification and Ageing
For the Givry 1er Cru "Servoisine" 2024, the grapes are harvested by hand, then carefully sorted before being destemmed. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled tanks for about fifteen days, with regular punching down allowing a controlled extraction of colour and tannins. Ageing takes place entirely in French oak barrels, including a proportion of new wood, with malolactic fermentation carried out entirely in barrel.
Grape Variety
This Givry 1er Cru "Servoisine" 2024 from Domaine de la Ferté is made from Pinot Noir.
