Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2024 from Domaine des Lambrays
Tasting notes
Appearance
The colour reveals a deep, dark red hue.
Nose
The bouquet displays remarkable aromatic complexity, marked by intense notes of black fruits such as blackberry, blackcurrant, plum and black cherry. Subtle touches of spice, undergrowth and a lovely minerality complete this deep nose.
Palate
On the palate, this wine stands out for its serious structure and concentration. The tannic architecture, well present in its youth, supports a rich material, offering the classic and majestic gravitas typical of its illustrious terroir.
Food and wine pairing
This great red wine pairs wonderfully with meats of firm texture and pronounced flavours, such as a cut of aged beef, roasted feathered game (duck, pigeon) or lamb in sauce. Accompaniments based on mushrooms (porcini, morels) or truffles will enhance its complexity.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C, ideally in large glasses, after decanting in its youth. Built to stand the test of time, this long-lived wine can be kept and enjoyed until around 2054.
The power and complexity of a Burgundy grand cru by Domaine des Lambrays
The estate
Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Morey-Saint-Denis, France, Domaine des Lambrays embodies the excellence of Burgundy. While the origins of its historic vineyard date back to the 14th century, the modern estate was established in 1979. Acquired in 2014 by the LVMH group, its current owner, the estate today spans 15.3 hectares. Under the direction of Jacques Devauges, the property stands out for its respectful approach to terroir, combining centuries-old heritage with sustainable viticultural practices, including a full conversion to biodynamics.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from a confidential 0.3-hectare plot located within the legendary Clos Vougeot. This exceptional terroir rests on a mosaic of limestone and marl soils. This Clos des Lambrays vineyard is managed with great ecological rigour, certified organic and cultivated according to biodynamic principles, fostering soil vitality and the pure expression of the fruit.
Winemaking and ageing
The production of this 2024 vintage follows the estate's philosophy of precision. The grapes, hand-harvested, are vinified in an ultra-modern, entirely gravity-fed winery, thus preserving the delicacy of the berries. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats suited to a rigorous plot-by-plot approach, followed by extended cellar ageing to refine the wine's structure.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
