Characteristics and tasting notes for this Domaine des Marnes Blanches Savagnin "En Jensillard" Côtes du Jura 2023
Tasting
Colour
The glass reveals a beautiful, luminous white hue.
Nose
The bouquet opens with delicate floral aromas reminiscent of elderflower, sweet briar and orange blossom, accompanied by notes of fresh citrus such as lime and pink grapefruit. With aeration, subtle exotic touches of lychee and mango mingle with nuances of white honey, wild fennel and an iodised minerality.
Palate
The attack is lively, carried by a beautiful natural tension. The mid-palate reveals itself as ample and generous, offering flavours of white peach and stewed pear, underlined by a finely grainy texture. The finish stretches on with a bracing freshness, punctuated by noble bitter notes evoking lemon peel and gentle hints of dried fruit.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, white meats in creamy sauces or roasted root vegetables. It also enhances lightly spiced dishes such as a coconut milk chicken curry, as well as regional cheeses like a young Comté or a Tomme. Seafood lovers will enjoy it with sea bream ceviche or scallop carpaccio.
Service and storage
To fully enjoy its aromatic range, it is recommended to serve this Domaine des Marnes Blanches Savagnin "En Jensillard" Côtes du Jura 2023 at a temperature of between 10 and 12°C in a classic white wine glass. The pure expression of Jura terroir by Domaine des Marnes Blanches
The estate
Founded in 2006 by Pauline and Géraud Fromont, Domaine des Marnes Blanches has rapidly established itself as an essential reference in the Jura. Located in the Sud-Revermont, this 12-hectare estate is run with passion by this couple of oenologists, both natives of the region. Deeply committed to the authentic expression of their terroir, the current owners farm their vines organically. The estate stands out for its minimal-intervention approach and its commitment to preserving local plant heritage, giving rise to wines of great purity.
The vineyard
The grapes come from a historic plot situated on soils of white marl and limestone, typical of the Côtes du Jura appellation. The vines, over 60 years old and derived from an ancient massale selection, benefit from deep rooting. The vineyard is farmed according to organic principles, with regular soil work and natural cover cropping that promotes biodiversity and vine vitality.
The vintage
The year 2023 was marked by contrasting weather conditions, beginning with spring storms and cool temperatures that delayed the growing cycle. Despite significant disease pressure, the slow and gradual ripening of the berries allowed for the preservation of a lovely freshness and optimal acidity, resulting in a concentrated and high-quality harvest.
Winemaking and ageing
The whole bunches destined for this Domaine des Marnes Blanches Savagnin "En Jensillard" Côtes du Jura 2023 are pressed with great delicacy. Fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts in oak barrels. The wine then undergoes topped-up ageing on fine lees for around 22 months, without any oxidative racking. Bottling takes place without prior fining or filtration.
Grape variety
Savagnin (100%).
