Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for Le Mont "Première Trie" Moelleux 2022 Domaine Huet
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a deep golden hue, both luminous and radiant.
Nose
Wonderfully complex, the nose exhales aromas of ripe stone fruit (peach, apricot, pear) intertwined with notes of honey, beeswax and acacia blossom, all underscored by a delicate mineral touch.
Palate
Generous and voluptuous, the palate seduces with its unctuous texture and candied fruit flavours. The absence of malolactic fermentation preserves a vibrant acidity that perfectly balances the sweetness, leading to a long, saline finish.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with a scallop carpaccio, honey-roasted poultry, spicy Asian dishes or a blue-veined cheese. For dessert, it perfectly complements a tarte tatin with caramelised fruit.
Service and storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve Le Mont "Première Trie" Moelleux 2022 at a temperature between 10 and 12°C, taking care to let it breathe for a few hours while young. Built to age for decades, this wine can be cellared until around 2052.
Other characteristics
This sweet white wine is made from grapes affected by noble rot, harvested during the first pass through the vineyards. This rigorous selection offers a perfect balance between sugar concentration and the fruit's natural freshness. Its alcohol content remains moderate, at around 12%.
The mineral expression and balance of a great Vouvray wine
The estate
Founded in 1928 by Victor and Gaston Huet, Domaine Huet is a true institution of the Loire Valley. Spanning 30 hectares of vineyards across three exceptional terroirs, the estate quickly distinguished itself through its environmentally conscious approach, becoming one of the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture as early as the late 1980s. Today, the family of American businessman Anthony Hwang is the current owner of the estate. While preserving its historic legacy and artisanal methods, they continue to elevate the wines to the pinnacle of global excellence.
The vineyard
Acquired in 1957, the Le Mont terroir spans approximately nine hectares within the Vouvray appellation. Ideally south-facing on a first slope, the vines grow on stony soils composed of green clay and a high proportion of flint, resting on a subsoil of chalky tuffeau. This unique terroir, cultivated in goblet-trained vines, gives the grapes exceptional concentration and a distinctive mineral signature.
The vintage
2022 offered particularly favourable climatic conditions. Autumn humidity, followed by beautiful sunny days, allowed for optimal development of noble rot on the bunches, ensuring a harvest of great quality, combining concentration and freshness.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for Le Mont "Première Trie" Moelleux 2022 are harvested by hand through successive sorting passes to select only perfectly botrytised berries. After gentle pressing and cold settling, fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts in old demi-muids. To preserve freshness, malolactic fermentation is not carried out. The wine is then aged on fine lees in natural tuffeau cellars, offering constant temperature and humidity, before being bottled in spring.
Grape variety
100% Chenin Blanc.
