Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Bourgogne Côte d'Or 2023 from Domaine Humbert Frères
Tasting
Appearance
With its brilliant, luminous ruby-red colour, this wine makes a radiant first impression.
Nose
Lively and remarkably clean, the nose reveals an intensely fruity bouquet dominated by crisp aromas of cherry, raspberry and redcurrant. Delicate floral notes of peony and rose intertwine with gentle hints of spice and pepper, with subtle undergrowth nuances in the background.
Palate
Supple and elegant on the attack, the wine unfolds into a harmonious, fluid palate. Carried by vibrant acidity and exceptionally fine tannins, it offers flavourful notes of small red berries. The finish is particularly clean, fresh and thirst-quenching.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine pairs beautifully with roast poultry, white meats and tender slow-cooked dishes. It is also an ideal match for fine charcuterie boards and soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, serve this Bourgogne Côte d'Or 2023 at a temperature of 14 to 16°C. While it already offers immediate pleasure with its fruit, this wine can also be cellared until around the middle of the decade.

The estate
Located in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Humbert Frères is a family estate whose roots go back several generations. Taken over in the late 1980s by brothers Frédéric and Emmanuel Humbert, the estate covers around 7 hectares. Today, Emmanuel Humbert co-manages the property with his nephew, Pierre-Yves Humbert. Certified High Environmental Value (HVE), this boutique estate is renowned for wines that combine power, generosity and ever greater precision and refinement.
The vineyard
The grapes for this Bourgogne Côte d'Or come from plots in the villages of Gevrey-Chambertin and Brochon. The vines, often over 50 years old, thrive on the clay-limestone soils typical of the area, which provide excellent drainage and fine minerality. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, with deliberately limited yields and green harvesting to concentrate the quality of the berries.
Vinification and ageing
The Bourgogne Côte d'Or 2023 is harvested by hand. The berries are partially destemmed before fermentation begins in temperature-controlled vats, using indigenous yeasts only. Extraction is carefully managed to preserve the balance of the fruit. The wine is then aged moderately in oak barrels, which lend a delicate structure and subtle spicy notes without ever masking the purity of the grape variety.
