Description
A balanced, highly age-worthy Pinot Noir from Domaine Nicolas Rossignol
The estate
Nicolas Rossignol is the 5th generation of his family to make wine in the Volnay appellation in Burgundy.
After training at several estates and taking charge of winemaking at Domaine Rossignol-Jeanniard in 1994, Nicolas Rossignol founded his eponymous estate in 1997, with vines in the Volnay, Pommard, Beaune, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses appellations.
In 2011, the two estates, Rossignol-Jeanniard and Nicolas Rossignol, merged under the name Domaine Nicolas Rossignol. Covering 30 hectares across 30 appellations, the vineyard is farmed traditionally, using sustainable practices and methods inspired by biodynamics.
The vineyard
This Pommard Premier Cru Chanlins 2018 from Domaine Nicolas Rossignol is produced from old vines averaging 85 years of age, located at the top of the slope between the Rugiens and Volnay Pitures plots. The vineyard is planted on poor, light soil close to the bedrock.
The vintage
A sun-drenched vintage, 2018 reveals a new facet of Burgundy's red wines. Rich, dense and powerful, these wines display intense aromas of spice and black fruit.

Tasting
