Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for Chapelle 1441 Pinot Noir Fin 2023 from Domaine Trapet
Tasting
Color
The 2023 vintage stands out for its lovely clarity.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals an expression dominated by wild red berries, wild strawberry and stewed cherry. Floral notes of violet intertwine with touches of sweet spices such as cinnamon, rounded out by nuances of white pepper and finely smoky graphite.
Palate
The entry is suave and particularly savory. The supple structure reveals beautiful freshness accompanied by a chalky minerality. The silky, finely structured tannins, free of pronounced astringency, deliver a juicy persistence that returns to wild red and black berries. The overall balance expresses elegance and refinement.
Food and wine pairings
This Alsatian Pinot Noir pairs perfectly with a beef tartare seasoned with capers and onions, served with a wasabi mayonnaise. It also pairs well with game such as deer or roe deer, poultry, veal or duck breast, cured meats, mushroom-based dishes, as well as delicate fish.
Serving and cellaring
Chapelle 1441 Pinot Noir Fin 2023 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 15 and 17°C. Best from 2025, it will reach its peak between 2027 and 2031, and should be drunk before around 2033.
An Alsatian Pinot Noir of exceptional concentration
The estate
Founded in 1870 by Louis Trapet, Domaine Trapet is an emblematic name in Alsace, spanning 15 hectares. Now run by Jean-Louis and Andrée Trapet, the estate has embraced biodynamic practices since 1995, fostering biodiversity and the expression of terroir. The family, involved for seven generations, stands out for its dual Burgundian and Alsatian heritage, as well as its commitment to viticultural innovation.
The vineyard
This cuvée takes its name from the former Saint-Erhard church, consecrated in 1441, built on ramparts dating back to 1291. The vineyard covers 0.50 hectare, partly on the Grand Cru Froehn, near the Schoenenbourg slope in Riquewihr in Alsace. This outstanding terroir allows Pinot Noir to express itself with finesse.
Vinification and aging
Chapelle 1441 Pinot Noir Fin 2023 is produced using biodynamic viticulture with hand-harvesting. After complete destemming, the grapes undergo a 14-day maceration with manual punch-downs. Aging takes place in oak barrels and concrete eggs.
