The Estate
Founded in 1983 by Giacomo and Gabriella Rallo on the basis of a family tradition dating back to 1851, Donnafugata now spans 441 hectares across five emblematic Sicilian sites. Led by Antonio and José Rallo, this fifth-generation domaine cultivates more than twenty grape varieties. Its name evokes “Le Guépard” by Lampedusa, while its numerous quality certifications attest to its sustainable commitment, notably preserving the UNESCO-listed alberello pantesco.
The Vineyard
The vines for this Moscato di Pantelleria DOC thrive on the volcanic island of Pantelleria at altitudes between 20 and 400 meters. Grown using the traditional alberello pantesco method in natural basins, they benefit from volcanic sandy soils, mild and dry winters, and the windy summers characteristic of this exceptional island terroir in Sicily.
Vinification and Aging
The 2024 harvest took place during the last ten days of August, allowing for the collection of zibibbo grapes at optimal ripeness under climatic conditions favorable to the aromatic expression of the variety. Kabir 2024 is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, thus preserving the freshness and primary aromas of zibibbo. Aging takes place over three months in tanks, followed by four months of bottle aging before release.
Grape Variety
100% zibibbo (Muscat of Alexandria), an emblematic grape variety of the island of Pantelleria perfectly suited to the Mediterranean island climate.
