Description
The delicacy and concentration of an Argentinian Red wine
The property
El Enemigo was born from the shared desire of Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, head winemaker at the famous Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002, to craft great wines in the heart of the Mendoza region. Thus, in 2007, these two enthusiasts created El Enemigo, literally “the enemy,” as well as the Bodega Aleanna winery. Success was immediate, and very quickly the estate gained worldwide recognition, particularly thanks to its Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Cabernet Franc.
The vineyard
Located near the Andes mountain range in Argentina, El Enemigo overlooks a vineyard ranging from 930 to 1470 meters in altitude, where a diversity of limestone, rocky and clay soils create exceptional terroirs for viticulture.
The vintage
The particularly favorable conditions during the year allowed the harvest of grapes with optimal acidity, exceptional concentration and maturity.
Vinification and aging
This wine is vinified under the influence of indigenous yeasts with 30 days of maceration. The wine is then aged for 15 months in large oak vats (50 %), barrels (25 %) and tanks (25 %).
Blend
El Enemigo Malbec 2022 is the result of a blend of Malbec (90 %) and Cabernet Franc (10 %).
