Such a fragrant and generous Beaune Premier Cru with a wonderful balance of full, fine tannins and ample cherry fruit, the balance spot-on. Very long finish, supported by an abundance of powdery tannins. So much energy and excellent aging potential. Drink or hold.

Located in the north, close to Savigny, this used to be a quarry. 25% new oak. Great freshness counterbalancing the rich, velvety texture on the palate. Deep colour and plenty of density, yet this is unmistakably burgundy. (AWH)

Tasting

Color
The color is distinguished by its deep hue with garnet highlights, reflecting the richness of this Premier Cru.

Nose
The bouquet reveals intense and seductive aromas of cherry and licorice, creating a particularly expressive olfactory profile.

Palate
On the palate, this wine shows a full and round structure, enriched with notes of mocha and spices, extending to a remarkably long finish.

Food and wine pairings

This Beaune 1er Cru "Perrières" 2020 pairs perfectly with beef bourguignon, duck breast or woodcock. It also goes very well with soft cheeses such as Camembert.

A structured and powerful Beaune Premier Cru

The estate

Created in 1797, the domaine Louis Latour is the largest Grands Crus estate in the Côte d'Or in Burgundy, with emblematic plots in Aloxe-Corton, notably Corton-Charlemagne. This independent family house for more than two centuries stands out for its integrated cooperage, a legacy from the 18th century.

The vineyard

The 'Perrières' climat is located to the north of the appellation Beaune, on an east-facing hillside. This terroir is characterized by shallow, very poor clay-limestone soils, set on a steep slope near former limestone quarry faces.

Vinification and aging

Vinification is carried out traditionally in open vats with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with 35% new wood at medium toast, allowing the wine to develop its structure and aromatic complexity.

Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir.
