Alison Napjus

Dry and minerally, this creamy white is light- to medium-bodied, with a firm backbone of acidity framing flavors of creamed apricot, Meyer lemon, oyster shell and an intriguing aromatic thread of garam masala that winds through to the tangy finish. Drink now through 2026. 1,700 cases made, 800 cases imported.

Attractively fused florals and white peaches with lychees and apricots. The palate has a very fleshy feel with rich and juicy texture and smooth peaches and apples. Lightly sweet, full-ish finish. Drink now.

Pale yellow-gold. Fresh, lively aromas and flavors of smoky duck sausage, cinnamon, rose petal and grapefruit. Very long, rich and dense Gewürz that closes pleasantly lifted and spicy. I like how light on its feet this is, despite its richness. Improves greatly with a little aeration, so make sure you leave it in the glass for about five minutes before you start drinking, or decant ahead.

Bettane+Desseauve

A fruit profile that’s more candied and more indulgent than the VT from the same grape variety, with a caressing palate and a finish marked by purity and freshness.

Yves Beck

The Gewurztraminer expresses itself beautifully through hints of rose as well as ginger… and a touch of tomato leaf (for freshness). The wine is smooth, harmonious, elegant and persistent. A lovely flavour expression from the attack through to the finish. A wine that is absolutely not tiring, but rather uplifting, with an elegant, saline and persistent finish… and invigorating!

Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Gewurztraminer 2017 Maison Trimbach

Tasting

Color
With a beautiful, clear pale yellow hue, this French white wine reveals a luminous pale gold color, enhanced by delicate golden highlights.

Nose
Particularly aromatic and complex, the bouquet reveals notes of lychee, rose petals, cinnamon and nutmeg. With aeration, subtle notes of white flowers, peaches and apricots enrich this olfactory palette.

Palate
Generous and full-bodied, the palate offers a rich, juicy texture carried by aromas of apple and smooth peach. The natural acidity brings a lovely freshness that balances the whole, while the minerality lends an elegant structure. The long, lingering finish unfolds with delicious touches of ginger.

Food and wine pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with spicy dishes from Asian, Indian or Moroccan cuisines, such as a coconut milk curry or beef satay. It also perfectly complements roasted poultry such as duck, white meats, white fish, as well as characterful cheeses like munster or refined truffle-based dishes.

Serving and cellaring

The Gewurztraminer 2017 stands out for its remarkable ageing potential for a wine of this category.

Other characteristics

This dry wine has an alcohol content ranging between 13.5% and 14.5%. Its residual sugar level is extremely low, close to zero.

The pure, mineral expression of a great wine from Alsace

The Estate

Founded in 1626 by Jean Trimbach, Maison Trimbach is a historic institution located in Ribeauvillé, in Alsace. This 61-hectare family estate, certified organic, is now run by Jean Trimbach, supported by the thirteenth generation, notably Anne, Frédérique, Julien and Pauline. Recognized as "Brand of the Year" in 2025, the estate stands out for its unwavering pursuit of balance and purity. With an exceptional heritage that includes a large proportion of prestigious terroirs, it crafts wines that authentically express the full richness of their origin.

The Vineyard

Located on the famous geological fault of Ribeauvillé in Alsace, the vineyard enjoys a semi-continental climate sheltered from rainfall by the Vosges mountains. The vines, around forty-five years old, thrive on a mosaic of soils composed of limestone, marl, sandstone, gneiss, granite and marine fossils. Farmed organically, the estate promotes biodiversity through tree planting and winter eco-grazing with sheep. Short pruning and massale selection ensure the quality and resilience of the vines.

Winemaking and Ageing

To preserve all the freshness and aromatic intensity of the Gewurztraminer 2017, no malolactic fermentation is carried out. The wine is aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks as well as in concrete tanks, with no prolonged contact with wood.
