Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Riesling 2023 from Maison Trimbach
Tasting
Colour
This white wine from France displays a beautiful pale golden yellow hue, illuminated by subtle green highlights that reveal its youth.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with striking freshness, unveiling scents of crisp apple, white flowers and stone fruits such as white peach and nectarine. This is underlined by citrus notes, particularly lemon and grapefruit zest, along with delicate herbaceous touches.
Palate
On the palate, this wine stands out for its lightness and vivacity. Crisp acidity structures a perfectly dry palate, offering flavours of citrus, honey and white peach. The texture is taut, marked by a fine salinity, and stretches into a long, intensely mineral finish.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, grilled or marinated fish such as ceviche, as well as sushi. It also perfectly accompanies summer salads, spring vegetables such as asparagus, fresh goat cheeses, or white meats. Its vivacity also makes it an excellent companion for spicy Asian dishes.
Service and storage
With fine ageing potential, this Riesling 2023 rested in the cellar for at least a year before release, allowing it to be enjoyed now while also evolving favourably in bottle.
Other characteristics
This wine has a resolutely dry profile with approximately 3 grams per litre of residual sugar. Its pH is 3.11, with a total acidity of 7.22 grams per litre. It is bottled under screwcap to optimally preserve its freshness.
The pure, mineral expression of a white wine from Alsace
The estate
Founded in 1626 by Jean Trimbach, Maison Trimbach is a true institution in Alsace. Now based in Ribeauvillé, the estate is led by the twelfth and thirteenth generations, with Jean Trimbach overseeing exports and Julien Trimbach heading technical direction. The estate stands out for its absolute pursuit of balance and its purist style, producing dry white wines of great minerality. As proof of its international standing, the brand was named Producer of the Year in 2025 by La Revue du Vin de France.
The vineyard
Located in the heart of the Alsace region, on the Ribeauvillé geological fault line, the vineyard spans a mosaic of complex soils composed of limestone, marl and sandstone. The vines, with an average age of forty-five years, benefit from a dry, sunny semi-continental climate, sheltered by the Vosges mountains. The estate, certified for its environmental practices since 2023, favours organic viticulture without the use of insecticides, encouraging biodiversity through tree planting and sheep grazing.
Winemaking and ageing
From harvest, the grapes destined for this Riesling 2023 undergo rigorous sorting before very gentle pneumatic pressing. The juice flows by gravity and is then clarified by centrifugal force. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature in temperature-controlled tanks, with no malolactic fermentation or use of new barrels, in order to preserve the purity of the fruit. The wine is then aged on fermentation lees and subsequently on fine lees for several months, without stirring, before undergoing tangential filtration and early bottling.
