Description
The refinement and aromatic expression of a red wine from Sicile
The estate
It was in 2006, at the age of 22, that Arianna Occhipinti established her own winery on one hectare of vines in the heart of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria region in Sicile. Attentive to her environment and wishing to express the full richness of her terroir, Arianna Occhipinti has, since the beginning, chosen a biodynamic approach to produce natural wines from indigenous grape varieties.
Having become a leading figure for a new generation of Sicilian wine enthusiasts and lovers of great Italian wines, Arianna Occhipinti today heads a 23-hectare vineyard. Considered success stories in the world of biodynamic viticulture, the wines of the Occhipinti estate, produced under the IGT Terra Siciliane appellation, are highly elegant, balanced, and authentically reflect their native terroir.
The vineyard
This cuvée from Sicile is sourced from vines averaging 35 years of age, situated at 280 meters above sea level. The soils are predominantly composed of red sand and chalk from the surrounding limestone rocks.
The wine
"Siccagno" is the name given in Sicile to highly concentrated grapes. Through this single-varietal cuvée, Arianna Occhipinti pays homage to her terroir. Widely cultivated across Sicile and used by her ancestors in the production of the first Sicilian wines, nero d’avola is a grape variety characterized by freshness, offering a rich aromatic palette as well as great elegance.
Blend
This
Siccagno 2022 from Occhipinti is 100% nero d’avola.
