Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Roc d'Anglade 2024 Roc d'Anglade

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful red hue.

Nose
Intense and complex, the nose exudes aromas of morello cherry and wild raspberry, harmoniously blended with notes of sweet spices such as cinnamon and clove, along with subtle touches of garrigue and lavender.

Palate
The palate stands out for its rich texture and fluidity, offering ripe tannins and great elegance. The remarkably long finish stretches out with beautiful mineral precision, reflecting perfect balance and great finesse.

Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted or grilled meats, such as beef with mushrooms or pepper, as well as more delicate meats like lamb or venison. It also pairs very well with flavourful vegetarian dishes such as ratatouille or gratin dauphinois, and matches beautifully with aged cheeses such as goat cheese, Comté or Manchego.

Service and storage

With very fine potential, this Roc d'Anglade 2024 is built for long-term cellaring, allowing its aromas to develop further complexity over time.

Other characteristics

This wine has a moderate alcohol content of 13%. The estate is also certified organic.

The elegance and precision of a great wine from the Languedoc

The estate

Founded in 1999 by Rémy Pédréno, the Roc d'Anglade estate quickly established itself as a key reference in the Languedoc. Located on the historic terroir of Langlade, in France, this approximately nine-hectare property is now run by Rémy and his wife Martine, recently joined by Jeremy Stevenson. Guided by a minimal-intervention philosophy and a constant quest to express the terroir, the estate produces wines renowned for their freshness and balance, restoring the noble reputation of this vineyard, whose history dates back to the Middle Ages.

The vineyard

Classified as IGP Pays du Gard, the vineyard flourishes on a plateau with a north-facing exposure, ideal for preserving the freshness of the grapes under a Mediterranean climate. The vines are planted on calcareous marl soils, composed of one-third clay, one-third silica and one-third limestone, dotted with rolled pebbles. The estate is farmed according to organic principles, with rigorous yield management and meticulous manual work to encourage biodiversity and vine health.

The vintage

The year was marked by a mild and warm spring, followed by a moderate summer season, spared from extreme heat episodes. These favourable weather conditions allowed the harvest to be reached with optimal phenolic ripeness, without excessive water stress for the vines.

Winemaking and aging

After manual harvesting and rigorous sorting, the Roc d'Anglade 2024 is vinified using whole bunches or with light destemming, in open vats and with indigenous yeasts. Fermentation lasts around fifteen days. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation before being aged for nearly eighteen months in large wooden vessels (foudres and demi-muids), allowing for slow maturation on the lees without imparting woody aromas to the wine.

Grape varieties

This wine is a blend of Carignan (50%), Syrah (25%) and Grenache (25%).
