Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Dia de los Muertos Limited Edition 2025 Recuerdos Clase Azul
Tasting ColourThis spirit reveals a deep amber colour, enhanced by golden highlights that reflect its extended barrel ageing and remarkable complexity. Nose
The aromatic profile opens with pronounced notes of cooked agave, accompanied by nuances of smoked wood from the traditional pit-cooking process. It then reveals citrus dimensions, notably fresh and candied orange peel, before giving way to warm spices, a caramelised sweetness and distinctive notes of clove. Palate
The palate opens with notes of sweet orange marmalade, perfectly balanced by delicate spices such as cinnamon and clove. Subtle touches of chocolate add depth, while the mid-palate reveals the influence of the barrel with aromas of vanilla and caramel. The remarkably long finish evolves harmoniously from citrus to toasted wood characteristics, offering a gentle, lingering warmth. Food Pairing Tips and Tasting Moments
This cuvée pairs exceptionally well with traditional Mexican dishes of complex flavour, particularly those featuring mole sauce. It also beautifully complements dark chocolate preparations, roasted nuts, matured cheeses and citrus-based desserts. Designed for slow, contemplative tasting, it is best enjoyed at room temperature or slightly chilled, served in a tulip glass to concentrate its aromas. Mixology
As an exceptional product, it is strongly recommended to enjoy it neat, without any embellishment, in order to fully appreciate its complexity and aromatic richness. Other Characteristics
This is an añejo expression with an alcohol content of 40%, crafted from a complex blend of distillates aged between 12 and 38 months in first-fill American whiskey barrels. Part of the agave undergoes traditional pit-cooking in underground ovens, lending the spirit its subtly smoky character.
An Exceptional Mexican Tequila Celebrating the Craftsmanship of Jalisco
Clase Azul: The Excellence of Mexican Tequila and CraftsmanshipFounded in 1997 by Arturo Lomelí, who remains its current owner and CEO, the Clase Azul house has revolutionised the world of ultra-premium spirits. Based in the Los Altos de Jalisco region, the birthplace of Mexican Tequila, the brand stands out for its vertically integrated model. It oversees every stage, from growing blue agave to distillation at its own facilities in Jesús María, all the way through to crafting its ceramic decanters at its Tradición Mazahua workshop. Clase Azul embodies a genuine cultural mission, combining the preservation of traditions, the economic empowerment of local artisans and a strong commitment to sustainability. This uncompromising commitment to quality has made the brand a global ambassador for Mexican craftsmanship. The Culmination of an Artistic Series: Dia de los Muertos Limited Edition 2025 Recuerdos
The Dia de los Muertos Limited Edition 2025 Recuerdos represents the final chapter of the five-year artistic series "Nuestros Recuerdos", launched in 2021 to honour one of Mexico's most sacred traditions. Crafted under the direction of master distiller Viridiana Tinoco, this exceptional Tequila is made exclusively from high-altitude blue agave. Its production relies on a proprietary yeast strain and a meticulous blend of distillates aged in American whiskey barrels. The visual appeal of this Tequila is every bit as remarkable as its flavour profile. The one-litre ivory ceramic decanter is the result of a collaboration with Mexican artist Erika Rivera. It depicts a traditional "ofrenda" surrounded by ethereal spirits, symbolising the permeable boundary between the world of the living and that of the departed. The bottle is further adorned with a 24-karat gold-plated medallion ornament, set with an obsidian cameo. Handcrafted by the Milagros de Latón workshop, this ornament requires more than 50 artisanal steps to complete. Strictly limited to 10,000 decanters worldwide, this edition is a true collector's work of art. It transcends the status of a mere spirit to become a liquid tribute to memory, nostalgia and the cultural heritage of Mexico.
