Founded by Kiichiro Iwai, the owner of a shochu producer, the Mars distillery is located in Nagano at an altitude of 800 meters. It was closed in 1992, reopened in 2011, and today belongs to the Hombo Shuzo group. The distillery is also present in Tsunuki (since 2016) and on the island of Yakushima.
