Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Bourgogne "Les Charmes" 2023 by Thibault Liger-Belair
Tasting
Appearance
This white wine displays a luminous colour.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals great complexity, blending citrus aromas such as lemon and grapefruit with notes of exotic fruit. Subtle floral touches of rose and yellow flowers intertwine with mouthwatering scents of ripe pear and peach.
Palate
The attack offers a velvety texture that coats the palate. At once full, delicate and harmonious, the palate is underscored by a beautiful mineral tension. The powerful, lingering finish stands out for its original spicy signature, evoking white pepper and star anise.
Food and Wine Pairings
With its fresh, aromatic profile, this wine will pair ideally with white fish, seafood or poultry in a creamy sauce.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully enjoy the Bourgogne "Les Charmes" 2023, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 12 and 13°C. Delightful in its youth, this wine also has fine ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2028.
The Precision and Authenticity of a Great Burgundy Wine
The Estate
Heir to a long family tradition dating back to 1720, the current estate was officially founded in 2001 by Thibault Liger-Belair, who is today its owner and manager. Located in the heart of Burgundy, the estate cultivates around nine hectares of vines with an environmentally respectful approach. Certified organic and applying the principles of biodynamics, Thibault Liger-Belair strives to produce pure, precise wines that faithfully reflect the singularity of each terroir, while also developing a quality-focused négociant activity.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this Bourgogne cuvée come from two distinct terroirs in the south of the region. The blend is made up of 60% vines from the Mâconnais, more precisely from the Lugny area, characterised by very white limestone soils and a full southern exposure. These parcels, over 40 years old, include Chardonnay vines of the so-called Musqué type. The remaining 40% comes from the Montagny appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise, adding a complementary fruity dimension to the blend.
Vinification and Ageing
For the production of the Bourgogne "Les Charmes" 2023, the grapes are harvested by hand to preserve the integrity of the berries. They are then subjected to a long, gentle three-hour pressing, which allows a fine extraction of the juice. Ageing takes place exclusively in stainless steel tanks for 14 months. The complete absence of oak preserves the natural freshness, mineral tension and aromatic purity of the terroir.
Grape Variety
This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
