Vasse Felix : Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is both earthy and mineral on the nose, with gravel and petrichor, graphite and iodine, raspberry, nori, layers of pomegranate molasses and black cherry. The wine reveals its 2020 vintage roots via the compact framework of tannin and lush red/purple core of fruit. Through the finish, it is possessed of two things in harmony: savory, chewy/ductile/agile tannins and a red jubey character. Awesome. It makes for luscious drinking. These wines age tremendously, and at $55 AUD a bottle, they represent sensational value for the money in the cellaring space. This is another great release. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Succulent, with fleshy black cherry, blackberry and huckleberry notes that are dense and toothsome, plus accents of Earl Grey, clary sage, fresh loamy earth and generous fresh-cracked black pepper. Reveals a hint of smoked paprika on the finish. Drink now through 2033. 4,500 cases made, 150 cases imported.

A medium-bodied red with blackcurrants, sage and crushed berries. Fine and medium-round tannins. Creamy texture and clean, fruity finish. Real cabernet character. Drink now or hold. A couple of years would make it even better. Screw cap.
