Description
Tasting characteristics and serving advice for Tournebride 2023 by Vincent Gaudry
Tasting
Appearance
The robe displays a bright light-gold hue of fine intensity.
Nose
The nose is initially incisive and smoky. With aeration, aromas of white fruits and sage emerge, supported by a backdrop of linden blossom and herbal infusion that lends a refined herbaceous dimension.
Palate
The attack is fresh, followed by a finely creamy texture that brings comfort at mid-palate. The finish reveals a youthful character with persistence that oscillates between white fruits and infusion notes, supported by well-judged acidity and delicate bitters. Sage signs off the finish with class and finesse.
Food and wine pairings
This Sancerre is perfect as an aperitif. It pairs ideally with a seafood platter including whelks, shrimp and oysters, as well as raw or marinated fish and carpaccios. Briny dishes such as shellfish, mussels and clams find in it an ideal partner. It also elevates Asian cuisine, notably sushi and sashimi, grilled white fish and chilled starters featuring vegetables, fresh goat’s cheese or terrines. Fresh and matured goat’s cheeses harmoniously complete this range of pairings.
Serving and cellaring
Tournebride 2023 can be enjoyed now and will evolve until around 2028. The wine may show slight natural sediment due to cold stabilization.
A biodynamic Sancerre from three major terroirs of Domaine Vincent Gaudry
The estate
Located in Sury-en-Vaux in the Loire, the Vincent Gaudry estate carries on a family legacy initiated by his grandfather. Now run by Vincent Gaudry, this 11-hectare estate grows mainly Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by Pinot Noir. A pioneer of biodynamics in Sancerre and Demeter-certified, the estate showcases diverse terroirs of limestone, marl, flint, caillottes and clay-limestone. Its precise, energetic style prioritizes authentic terroir expression, with vines around 40 years old from massal selections originating from very old plots.
The vineyard
The Tournebride vines, 35 years old, thrive on the slopes of the communes of Sancerre, Saint-Satur and Sury-en-Vaux. This exceptional terroir combines three soil types emblematic of the Sancerre appellation: flint, caillottes and clay-limestone. This geological mosaic gives the wine its complexity and distinctive minerality, perfectly reflecting the diversity of Sancerre’s terroirs.
Winemaking and aging
The Tournebride 2023 harvest is carried out by hand. Vinification takes place via temperature-controlled fermentation, split equally between wooden vats and stainless-steel tanks. Aging then continues for 15 months in tank, allowing the wine to develop complexity while preserving its hallmark freshness.
Grape variety
This white Loire wine is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
