Tasting
Appearance

Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves complex, unveiling aromas of wild blackberries and macerated black cherries. Spicy touches of black pepper and clove intertwine with mineral notes evoking graphite.
Palate
The attack is velvety, carried by silky tannins. The palate offers savoury notes of candied black fruits and liquorice, stretching towards a long finish marked by hints of bitter cocoa and damp earth. The whole shines through its balance between power, elegance and a beautiful vivacity.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée will pair wonderfully with grilled red meats, spicy dishes seasoned with coriander or aged hard cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
This José Malbec 2021 reveals excellent cellaring potential and can be enjoyed until around 2035.
The authentic expression of a great wine from the Valle de Uco by Zuccardi
The estate
Founded in 1963 by Alberto Zuccardi, this family-owned property has established itself as a benchmark name in the Mendoza region of Argentina. Now run by the third generation, with Sebastian Zuccardi at the helm, the estate extends over more than 1,000 hectares. Internationally renowned, it stands out for its meticulous approach to high-altitude terroirs and its commitment to preserving the regional identity. The excellence of its craftsmanship, blending tradition and innovation, has notably earned it a place among the prestigious ranking of the world's best vineyards.
The vineyard
The grapes come from two high-altitude terroirs located in the Valle de Uco. The first, Paraje Altamira, sits between 1,050 and 1,150 metres under a cool temperate climate with significant temperature swings, on soils rich in stones, granitic gravel and limestone elements. The second, Gualtallary, thrives between 1,200 and 1,500 metres in an arid environment, on lands composed of sand, caliche, stones and limestone matter.
The vintage
The 2021 year was marked by cool and humid weather, with a cool spring followed by a sunny summer. These climatic conditions favoured a slow ripening of the berries, allowing an optimal balance between sugars and acidity to be reached while developing a solid tannic structure.
Winemaking and aging
After a rigorous selection of the bunches, the fermentation of the José Malbec 2021 is carried out with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats. The wine then benefits from an extended ageing of 24 months in 2,500-litre foudres, allowing a slow evolution that respects the fruit.
Grape varieties
95% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
