Decanter

Lovely sour cherry, violet, rose-touched nose. So juicy and bright straight away the acidity hits the palate, really refreshing and lifted. A lovely core of deep flavours ranging from perfumed blackcurrants to fragrant violets and a searing cherry touch, too. Direct but so appealing, straight and lively - it has a gentleness while still being fully flavoured and approachable. Softly textured yet bright fruit, the two quite opposing but well balanced. Lovely fresh finish, also. Fun and playful, but the most gorgeous sweet, fragrant cherry and strawberry juice - a result no doubt of the unusually higher percentage of Merlot in the blend in 2021. 3.57pH.

James Suckling

A juicy and very delicious red with plum, light pepper, chocolate and hazelnut aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied with a pretty center palate and a bright fruity finish with just the right amount of tannins that frame the wine nicely. 52% merlot, 46% cabernet sauvignon and 2% petit verdot. Drink or hold.

52% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot. Cask sample. Open and aromatic with red-fruit and spicy notes. Lively, fresh and juicy, the tannic structure light but fine. Chalky finish. Agreeable in the short term. (JL)

Medium-bodied, forward, already approachable, allowing you to enjoy all of its bright, crisp red fruits, cedar and tobacco, with a soft, brisk edge on release. This is perfect for near-term drinking while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. Drink from 2024–2032.

Dark ruby core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicately floral aromas with fresh red cherries and cranberries and hints of tangerine zest. Rich palate with some finesse, a lively, lean red berry fruit with a mineral-salty finish. Good with food.

Cool-vintage flavours and aromatics, with touches of undergrowth and rose bud; this has texture and depth, although the austerity of the tannins arrives on the mid-palate and shuts the blue fruits down fairly swiftly. 38 hl/ha yield. Relatively high Merlot in the blend, leaving the great Cabernets for Issan. 35% new oak.

Le Figaro Vin

Crunchy, fresh, and juicy fruit, with a touch of mocha, make up a refined, delicate, and precise nose. On the palate, the texture is soft and elegant, fleshy and creamy, velvety before a juicier finish.

Blason d’Issan displays a beautiful diversity with nuances of blond tobacco, plums, and red berries. Velvet-like in texture, the wine is elegant, juicy, and already ready to be enjoyed, while its tannic structure ensures some aging potential.

Vertdevin

(46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 52% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot) The nose is fresh, fruity, elegant, and racy. It reveals notes of crushed wild blackcurrant, raspberry, blackberry, and, more subtly, small red berries, with touches of racy/magalais minerality, as well as fine hints of violet, cardamom, graphite, and delicate nuances of cocoa and toast. The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, a zesty acid backbone, good definition, and a certain indulgence. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, fresh/tangy blackcurrant, and, more slightly, pulpy raspberry, combined with small touches of cocoa, racy minerality, as well as fine hints of cocoa, toasted almond, a subtle touch of camphor, and an imperceptible hint of eucalyptus (in the background). The tannins are plush and well-handled. Good length. Savory sapidity and a delicate chew on the finish/persistence.
