Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Château de Beaucastel Blanc 2025
Tasting notes
Appearance
In its youth, the cuvée shows a pale yellow colour with green highlights. With time, it evolves towards beautiful golden hues.
Nose
The nose opens with floral notes, complemented by yellow fruits. Over the years, the bouquet shifts towards dried fruits and toasted almonds.
Palate
The palate combines richness and fruit with lovely vivacity. It is balanced and lingers on the finish. In this vintage, the body of the Roussanne is supported by a crisp freshness and fine tension.
Food and wine pairings
This rich, lively white wine pairs well with flavourful dishes. It matches a salad of poultry and foie gras with honeyed hazelnuts, truffle brouillade or white fish quenelles made with pike.
Serving and cellaring
Château de Beaucastel Blanc 2025 follows the style of the estate's white wines, renowned for their ageing potential.
A white Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Château de Beaucastel, dominated by Roussanne
The estate
Located in Courthézon, in the Vaucluse, Château de Beaucastel occupies the northern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, in the Rhône Valley. While the site has roots dating back to the 16th century, the modern estate was born in 1909 when Pierre Tramier acquired it. It was subsequently passed down to the Perrin family, which still owns it today and is now led by its fifth generation. The estate cultivates all thirteen grape varieties of the appellation using organic farming.
The vineyard
This white Châteauneuf-du-Pape comes from a small part of the vineyard dedicated to white grape varieties, in the north of the appellation. The terroir combines thick rounded pebbles with Miocene marine molasse. The pebbles store the heat of the day and release it at night. The roots grow very deep into these soils. The Mistral wind regularly sweeps through these vines and helps keep them healthy. They are farmed organically, with compost produced at the estate, and harvested by hand.
The vintage
The 2025 vintage in Châteauneuf-du-Pape was warm, early and challenging to manage. After a very rainy autumn and winter, the soils began the season with generous water reserves. The summer was dry and hot, marked by two heatwaves, the second of which occurred in early August. Véraison was early. Some white parcels were harvested very early in order to preserve the freshness of the grapes. The rains in September then staggered the rest of the harvest.
Winemaking and ageing
Château de Beaucastel Blanc 2025 follows the estate's winemaking approach for its white wines. Fermentation and ageing take place in both oak barrels and tanks. The wood contributes richness and complexity, while the tank preserves the purity and freshness of the aromas.
Grape varieties
Roussanne (dominant variety) and Grenache Blanc.
