Description
A structured, intensely aromatic Cabernet Franc
The estate
Founded between the years 800 and 1000 by Benedictine monks, the Château de Fosse-Sèche wine estate belonged to the Church for several centuries. Passionate about wine and ecology, Guillaume Pire took over the estate in 1998, with the ambition of crafting distinctive Loire wines that authentically express their native terroirs. In 2010, Guillaume was joined by his identical twin brother, Adrien.
Château de Fosse-Sèche watches over a 15-hectare vineyard with distinctive geology, farmed organically and biodynamically. Made up of flint stones and iron oxide, these soils also benefit from a cool, windy exposure. Together with their wives, Guillaume and Adrien Pire are deeply committed to an environmentally respectful approach. As a result, one third of the land is dedicated to vine growing, and the remaining two thirds to preserving biodiversity and nature. In this way, 30 hectares are entirely devoted to the development of ecosystems.
Château de Fosse-Sèche is renowned for its Loire wines with a unique personality, harmoniously combining precision, purity and power.
The wine
La Réserve du Pigeonnier 2020 from Château de Fosse-Sèche is a Vin de France from a vineyard whose vines, over 60 years old, are planted on flint soils with gravel bound by slightly clayey earth. This terroir, which encourages very deep rooting, benefits from a temperate climate with oceanic influence—ideal conditions to ensure the berries ripen slowly and progressively.
Blend
Cabernet Franc (100%).
