Description

Tasting notes and recommendations for Château Galoupet 2025

Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a delicate, very pale pearlescent hue, illuminated by subtle peach reflections.

Nose
Particularly elegant and expressive, the bouquet opens with aromas of yellow fruits, kumquat, and a hint of passion fruit. It then develops floral notes of jasmine and rose, highlighted by touches of wild herbs, sweet spices, and a subtle hint of vanilla.

Palate
The attack is remarkably fresh, giving way to a silky, creamy texture. The palate is rich, driven by flavors of fleshy summer fruits such as nectarine, intertwined with notes of raspberry, pomelo, pomegranate, and anise. The finish, of remarkable length, stands out for its superb saline minerality.

Food and wine pairings

This great gastronomic rosé pairs beautifully with goat cheeses, whether fresh or aged. It also enhances Asian dishes such as Thai shrimp salad, white meats served with a creamy mushroom sauce, or Mediterranean specialties like bouillabaisse made with rockfish.

Serving and cellaring

With excellent aging potential, this 2025 vintage can evolve favorably in the cellar and is best enjoyed until around 2031.

A complex, great rosé from the heart of the Côtes de Provence

The estate

Appearing on maps as early as the 18th century, the Château Galoupet built a solid reputation before being awarded the prestigious Cru Classé status in 1955. Located in La Londe-les-Maures in Provence, this historic estate was acquired in 2019 by the LVMH group (Moët Hennessy), its current owner. Under the direction of Nadine Fau, it now stands as a pioneering brand in sustainable development. A true ecological model, it combines the production of high-end wines with a deep commitment to biodiversity regeneration.

The vineyard

Nestled between the Massif des Maures and the Îles d'Or, this unique terroir of the Côtes de Provence benefits from a microclimate cooled by sea breezes and the mistral. Of the estate’s 160 hectares, 68 are dedicated to vines, while the rest is preserved in its natural state. The vines, averaging over thirty years of age, thrive on soils atypical for the region, composed of metamorphic rocks, schistose sandstone, and quartz. The vineyard is managed using rigorous agroforestry practices, including permanent ground cover to preserve soil vitality.

The vintage

The year was marked by higher-than-average rainfall. These beneficial precipitations allowed the vines to reach optimal phenolic ripeness without experiencing water stress, resulting in a generous harvest with great aromatic intensity.

Winemaking and aging

To craft this wine, grapes sourced exclusively from the estate are harvested at night to preserve their freshness. After gentle direct pressing and cold settling, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16°C for around fifteen days. The wine is then aged on fine lees. Half of the blend is matured in 600-liter French oak barrels, new or previously used for one wine, adding further complexity before the final blend carried out in winter.

Grape varieties

This Château Galoupet 2025 is a blend composed of 46% grenache, complemented by 19% tibouren, 18% syrah, and 17% rolle.
