Description
A fine red wine from Pomerol by Château Gazin
The estate
An essential reference of the appellation of Pomerol, Château Gazin boasts ancient origins. In 1917, Château Gazin was acquired by Louis Soualle, the great-grandfather of the current owners, the De Bailliencourt dit Courcol family.
The vineyard
The superb 26-hectare vineyard is located on Pomerol’s high terrace of clay-gravelly soil. Château Gazin is the largest estate of the famous appellation on the right bank of the Bordeaux region.
The vintage
The mild winter led to an early bud burst. In the spring, the cool, rainy weather spared the vineyard from frost. The vine cycle slowed down, promising an average vintage. The very hot and dry summer accelerated the cycle again, allowing the fruit to ripen fully in time for the harvest. The vines managed to withstand the heat thanks to well-drained and refreshing clay soils.
The blend
Merlot (88,5%), cabernet franc (4,5%), cabernet sauvignon (7%).
