Clarendon Hills : Syrah Piggott Range Vineyard 2001

The 2001 Syrah Piggott Range may be one of several Clarendon Hills’ Syrah cuvées that stand toe to toe with its 2002 sibling. A giant Syrah, it boasts an enormously rich nose of black fruits, subtle vanilla, smoke, and a hint of graphite. Dark, dense and chewy, a bit surly now but it has surprisingly bright raspberry and cherry flavors at the core despite the rough texture. Needs time to sort itself out; should be a beauty. Best after 2006. 180 cases imported.
