Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Étoile 2024 by Ott*
Tasting notes
Colour
The wine shows a brilliant peach hue, enhanced by remarkable luminosity.
Nose
The nose opens with a delicate mineral backbone before releasing aromas of white peach and citrus zest, lifted by subtle herbal notes reminiscent of tarragon.
Palate
Generous in volume, the palate charms with its characteristic silky texture. It gradually unfolds flavours of juicy mandarin, ripe strawberry and crisp nectarine. The finish, of exceptional length and elegance, stretches out on fine spicy notes.
Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy this 2024 vintage, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 10 and 12°C. With remarkable ageing potential, this wine can be enjoyed until 2028 at the very least.
The Elegance and Complexity of a Great Rosé by Ott*
The estate
Founded in 1896 by Marcel Ott in Provence, in the south of France, Ott* embodies winemaking excellence across an extensive vineyard. A pioneer in the production of prestige rosés, the estate stands out for its long-standing commitment to environmentally friendly practices. Since 2004, the estate has been owned by Maison Louis Roederer, while retaining its operational independence. Today, Jean-François Ott, representing the fourth generation, leads this institution with passion, perpetuating a unique family know-how and a philosophy centred on quality and the authentic expression of terroir.
The vineyard
This Vin de France is the product of a mosaic of exceptional terroirs spread across three distinct estates. Château de Selle contributes the influence of its limestone and sandstone soils, Clos Mireille offers a unique maritime imprint thanks to its schist and quartz soils, while Château Romassan enriches the blend with its arid limestone and marl soils. The entire vineyard is managed using sustainable practices and is certified organic.
The vintage
The year began with a mild, moderately damp spring, followed by a hot, dry summer, ideally balanced by cool nights. These favourable weather conditions encouraged even, gradual ripening of the berries, allowing a staggered harvest from mid-August to late September and preserving a fine natural acidity.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked harvest is followed by gravity-fed transport to preserve the quality of the fruit. After a gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled inert tanks. Ageing is then carried out partly (20%) in ceramic spheres, a method chosen to enhance the purity of the fruit while limiting oxidation.
Grape varieties
This wine is a blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre.
