Description
The texture and balance of a Rhône Valley red wine
The estate
An iconic name among the great wines of the northern Rhône Valley, the House Paul Jaboulet-Aîné was founded in 1834 in Tain-l'Hermitage. Renowned winemaker and winegrower Caroline Frey runs this illustrious house, owned by the Frey family since 2006. The House of Paul Jaboulet-Aîné watches over a 125-hectare vineyard, spread across exceptional appellations such as Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu as well as Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise.
The vineyard
Paul Jaboulet-Aîné’s Parallèle 45 cuvée is a Côtes du Rhône wine produced exclusively through organic farming. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are planted on soils made up of rounded pebbles on the right bank of the Rhône and clay-limestone alluvial deposits on the opposite bank.
The wine
The name of this wine refers to the 45th parallel north, which runs near the estate’s cellars.
Winemaking and aging
This Rhône wine is the result of 6 months of aging in stainless-steel vats and truncated-cone vats.
Blend
This Parallèle 45 2024 from Paul Jaboulet-Aîné is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Marselan and Carignan.
