Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Pouilly-Fuissé Village "Les Oubliés" 2025 by Verget
Food and wine pairings
In keeping with the signature style of this cuvée, this white wine will pair beautifully with delicate fish in sauce, pike quenelles or poultry served with a morel cream sauce. It will also perfectly accompany fine shellfish such as lobster or langoustines, as well as cooked pressed cheeses like Comté or Beaufort.
The authentic expression of a Pouilly-Fuissé terroir
The estate
Founded in 1990 by Jean-Marie Guffens, the Verget négociant house is based in Sologny, in the heart of the Mâconnais region of Burgundy. A true model of winemaking "haute couture", this house is devoted exclusively to the production of white wines. True to its motto that the best wines come from the best grapes, the house carefully selects its supplies from partner winegrowers. Today, Jean-Marie Guffens still heads the estate, supported since 2006 by oenologist Julien Desplans, with whom he co-manages vinifications to reveal the full purity of Burgundy's terroirs.
The vineyard
This white wine comes from the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. The grapes are sourced from vines planted on hillsides with clay-limestone soils, typical of the villages of Vergisson and Fuissé. The name of the cuvée echoes the producer's philosophy of shining a light on highly qualitative plots that were not selected during the recent premier cru classification of the appellation.
Grape variety
Chardonnay (100%).
