Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the "Alain Thiénot" 2008 Cuvée from Champagne Thiénot
Tasting Notes
Appearance
This wine reveals a delicate pale gold hue, enhanced by remarkable brilliance and an exceptionally fine effervescence.
Nose
Beautifully complex, the aromatic bouquet opens with scents of ripe yellow fruit and mango, harmoniously intertwined with notes of dried flowers. Subtle touches of toasted bread and praline enrich the whole.
Palate
The attack reveals a wine that is at once round, silky and full-bodied. The palate stands out for its remarkable tension and freshness, carried by a delicate salinity, before stretching into a long finish with chalky nuances.
Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with an aperitif of aged dry-cured ham. It also elegantly accompanies white fish or noble shellfish such as lobster, langoustines or scallops.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully appreciate this 2008 vintage, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 9 and 10°C. With great potential, this champagne can be cellared for many years, ready to celebrate special moments.
The Purity and Complexity of a Great Champagne from the House of Thiénot
The Estate
Founded in 1985, the house of Thiénot quickly established itself in the Champagne landscape thanks to a resolutely modern and creative vision. Located in the heart of Reims, this independent family estate is still led today by its founder, supported by his children Garance and Stanislas. Drawing on the experience of its creator, a former broker, the house stands out for its uncompromising quality standards, loyal grape sourcing and commitment to sustainable viticulture, offering contemporary cuvées of great precision.
The Vineyard
The House farms a vineyard of approximately 30 hectares, half of which is classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru. The parcels extend across prestigious terroirs such as Aÿ in the Marne Valley, as well as Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs. Cultivated according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, these Champagne vines benefit from a great diversity of soils, notably chalky ones, yielding grapes of exceptional quality.
The Vintage
Regarded as one of the finest years of the past two decades, 2008 was marked by a contrasting climate combining sunshine and freshness. The harvest took place under clement skies with cool temperatures, yielding perfectly healthy grapes with optimal ripeness and preserved acidity.
Vinification and Ageing
The creation of this cuvée aims to preserve the aromatic purity of the berries. Fermentation and ageing therefore take place entirely in stainless steel tanks, with no oak influence. The wine then benefits from extended ageing on the lees in the house's cellars in order to develop its full complexity.
