A fresh, mineral white Burgundy by Albert Bichot

The estate

Founded in 1831 in Monthélie by Bernard Bichot, the House of Albert Bichot permanently established itself in Beaune in 1912. Managed since 1996 by Albéric Bichot, this independent family-owned house remains one of the last great historic Beaune-based maisons. Spanning over 100 hectares across six exceptional estates throughout Burgundy, from Chablis to Beaujolais, Albert Bichot has farmed its vineyards organically since 2014, embodying the alliance between centuries-old tradition and modern winemaking.

The vineyard

The Burgundy Hautes-Côtes de Nuits vineyard lies between 300 and 400 meters above sea level, to the west of the Côte de Nuits, on valley slopes and plateaus. The vines benefit from south- to east-facing exposures, capturing maximum sunlight. Planted on clay-limestone soils, they grow in a harsher climate than on the Côte, encouraging later, slower ripening of the grapes, which gives the wines their characteristic freshness and vibrancy.

Winemaking and aging

After alcoholic fermentation, the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits 2023 is aged on fine lees for 9 to 11 months. Aging is split between 70% in stainless-steel vats and 30% in oak barrels, bringing roundness and fullness to the wine while preserving its natural freshness.
