A Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir true to the style of Domaine Albert Morot
The estate
Founded in 1820 in Beaune, Domaine Albert Morot is among the historic houses of the Côte de Beaune. Based at the Château de la Creusotte, it farms around 8 hectares organically, a practice adopted in 2015, including a fine collection of Beaune Premiers Crus and the monopole of Clos de la Bataillère. Since 2023, the estate has been owned by Guillaume and Sophie Poitrinal, with Pierre-Jean Villa entrusted with the management of the vineyards and winemaking. The estate is committed to viticulture that respects the soils and to minimal-intervention winemaking, faithful to the identity of each Burgundy terroir.
The vineyard
This Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir comes from parcels located on both the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, at the foot of the slope with an easterly exposure. The vines, around 40 years old, are planted at high density, about 10,000 vines per hectare, on clay-limestone marl soils typical of Burgundy. The vineyard is managed with Guyot pruning and soil work involving hilling up and earthing down, and the harvest is strictly by hand, carried out in small 15-kilogram crates to preserve the integrity of the berries.
Winemaking and ageing
The winemaking of the Bourgogne Côte d'Or "Pinot Noir" 2024 relies on fermentations carried out solely with indigenous yeasts, with no added yeasts, in a spirit of respect for the fruit and the terroir. Ageing continues for 18 months in French oak barrels and truncated conical wooden vats, without racking, allowing a gradual integration of the tannins and the preservation of freshness. Before bottling, the wine is blended in tank for 6 to 8 weeks, then bottled by gravity, without fining or filtration, in order to preserve its substance and purity as much as possible.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
